Strings of Valor

Serving Oklahoma Veterans

“This program basically saved my life”

Across the United States, roughly 800,000 Veterans live with service‑related injuries, PTSD, or other emotional hardships—and we believe that learning guitar can play a meaningful role in their recovery.

Our weekly guitar sessions are customized for each participant. They’re built to support Veterans as they learn in a way that suits their individual speed, needs, and any physical or emotional limitations they may face. Once a Veteran completes ten sessions, they receive a brand‑new guitar along with a full set of gear.

Meet Our Instructors

Since 2017, the Oklahoma Opry has provided free guitar lessons to more than 250 veterans and continues to serve Oklahoma veterans under the new name, Strings of Valor. After starting a pilot program in 2017 and later operating Oklahoma’s first chapter under the national Guitars for Vets program from 2018-2025, the Oklahoma Opry continues its longstanding partnership with the OKCVA Recreational Therapy Department to transform lives through music.

Each Veteran who completes the 11-week course and graduates the program receives a brand new acoustic guitar, accessory pack, and is welcome to join almuni jam sessions and performance opportunities. Thank you to our Community Partner, Guitar Center, for making our graduate bundles possible.
